AITeM Laser Safety School courses

The Laser Safety School (SSL), established within AITEM Academy, offers training services for the industrial, research, telecommunication, and civil sectors, as well as for the healthcare, aesthetic, and veterinary fields.

It provides courses for Laser Safety Officers, Laser Safety Supervisors and Laser Users.

It aims to be the technical and qualified point of reference for problem solving activities related to laser safety.

Courses can be delivered online, at AITeM’s premises or at the premises of companies that request the courses for their employees.

COURSE FOR LASER SAFETY OFFICERS [40 H] (ESPERTO SICUREZZA LASER - II, CEI 76-17 STANDARD)

Laser Safety Officers are qualified professionals capable of carrying out laser risk assessment in accordance with Legislative Decree 81/08 and subsequent amendments, with the aim of eliminating or reducing such risk in the workplace. They are able to define and select appropriate prevention and protection measures and to verify the class of a laser product. The Laser Safety Officers may operate in industrial, research, telecommunications and civil applications, or in the medical, aesthetic and veterinary fields, following specific training.

COURSE FOR LASER SAFETY SUPERVISORS [24 H] (ESPERTO SICUREZZA LASER-I, CEI 76-17 STANDARD)

The Laser Safety Supervisor is the professional responsible for the daily management and supervision of laser safety within the organization in which they are appointed, following the guidance of the ESL-II and the employer. The aim is to ensure the continuous safe use of all systems put in place to guarantee laser safety. This professional does not carry out laser risk assessment but must understand the procedure and be able to interpret its outcomes, to verify that the resulting risk control measures are correctly implemented and remain effective over time.

Course for Laser Users [8 h]

The Laser Operator is the person who uses these devices for a wide range of applications: industrial, research, medical, aesthetic, etc. They must be informed about the risks they are exposed to during their work activity and how to manage hazardous situations involving laser radiation. They must follow the instructions provided by the ESL-I or the ESL-II and by the employer and are required to use the protective equipment assigned to them, for which they have received appropriate training and/or instruction.

REFRESHER COURSE FOR LASER SAFETY OFFICERS (ESL-II) [8 H]

The refresher course for Laser Safety Officers is intended for professionals already qualified as ESL-II. It is aimed at maintaining and updating technical and regulatory competencies in laser safety. The refresher, with a four-year periodicity, is necessary to ensure continuous alignment with developments in regulations, technologies and risk assessment methodologies.
