SURFACE INTEGRITY CHANGES BY SEVERE PLASTIC DEFORMATION PROCESSES: Surface state dictates the final performance of manufactured parts. Research focusses on modifying process parameters optimizing surface characteristics for each product’s specifications (durability, reliability) also building customized numerical simulations able to predict process effects on product surface integrity.
SURFACE FUNCTIONALIZATION: Producing smart medical devices is the objective of the research activity. Thus, functionalizing implants’ surface in order to make them prone to adapt to specific patient’s needs is the main target. Different functionalization techniques are studied and cell response is considered one of the main outputs.
SUSTAINABLE MANUFACTURING PROCESSES: Sustainability aspects of reducing environmental impact of SPD processes are the focus of this particular research line. Each process is analyzed to minimize its environment and health impact improving, at the same time, the product quality.
