The current research activity of the composite materials group at eCampus University focuses on the development of innovative and sustainable solutions for structural applications. Research encompasses the design, manufacturing, and mechanical, microstructural, and thermal characterization of both conventional and bio-based composite materials, with particular emphasis on sandwich structures and the use of natural fibres as an alternative to traditional reinforcements. The activity also integrates Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) methodologies to evaluate the environmental performance of materials and manufacturing processes, supporting the development of high-performance, low-impact technologies for advanced industrial applications.
