The Smart Manufacturing Laboratory is glad to announce the new 3D Optical Metrology Section. Offering form, dimensional and surface measurement services, the Optical Metrology Section features a range of optical profilometers of excellence within central Italy. We are specialized in micrometric and sub-micrometric measurements using a wide array of technologies ranging from focus variation, coherence scanning interferometry, phase shifting interferometry, microarray confocal microscopy, 3D laser scanning and fringe projection. Our applied research themes cover the development of AI for inspection in manufacturing (semantic segmentation, automated defect identification). Our long-term vision explores the concept of intelligent inspection system, an AI-driven agent capable of interfacing and interacting with other manufacturing machines and operators, in advanced automation scenarios typical of Industry 5.0.
