The collaboration between the University of Messina and CNR ITAE developed a methodological platform for the design, fabrication and validation of compact heat exchangers based on high-specific-surface-area TPMS architectures. The activity integrated implicit modeling, comparison and optimization of different morphologies, thermo-fluid dynamic analysis, additive manufacturing and experimental testing. The work evolved from early functional prototypes produced by FFF to high-resolution thin-walled structures fabricated by mSLA, progressively extending the investigation to different cells and materials, including, by way of example, Gyroid, Fischer-Koch and I-WP configurations. The outcome is a repeatable workflow for advanced energy components, in which geometry, process, material and performance are designed and validated as an integrated system.
