Research activities done at the University of Tuscia focus on the development and optimization of processes for the finishing and surface coating of metal and polymer components, with a focus on fluidized bed systems, deposition processes, and surface treatment technologies. The main research lines include the finishing of components obtained through additive manufacturing, both metallic and polymeric, the development of hard coatings (CVD diamond, ceramic, and metallic coatings), and the study of adhesion mechanisms and tribological behavior. Additional activities include the production of metal and ceramic foams and the evaluation of their industrial applications, such as filtration and heat exchange, as well as surface functionalization to confer antibacterial properties. Finally, there is a strong research interest in the modeling and control of manufacturing processes.
