Open track “Innovation in Biomedical Manufacturing Systems”

AITeM’s IN.BIO.SYS invites you to the open track Innovation in Biomedical Manufacturing Systems on the occasion of ISM 2026 - International Conference on Industry of the Future and Smart Manufacturing (Padova e Venezia, 10-14 Novembre 2026).

The innovation of the product/process for biomedical applications is sometimes hindered by a diffuse lack of communication between the industrial apparatus and the actual end-users of the devices. This gap of communication not only prevents the innovation from growing faster but also preserves the former – and, in some cases – obsolete procedures from both the manufacturing and the clinical perspectives. It is extremely important that the whole design and manufacturing chain has to be based on clearly identified steps, resulting from the requirements of the medical/technical members, from the functional designs of customized devices and from the definition of the right technological solution. Therefore, a clear strategy of innovation for biomedical applications must cover not only the product (according to the requirements of the end-user), but also the specific processes to promote the technology transfer of the identified innovative solutions.

The open track is organised by Antonio Piccininni (Politecnico di Bari), Paola Ginestra (Università di Brescia), Mariangela Quarto (Università di Bergamo) e Stefania Cacace (Politecnico di Milano).

Draft paper submission deadline: 31 May 2026.
