ZEvRA is a project funded by the European Union that aims to improve the circularity of electric vehicles along the entire value chain, from material sourcing to end-of-life (EoL) processes, in line with the European Union's goal of achieving zero CO2 emissions by 2035. The 9R methodology will be validated, in collaboration with the 5 OEMs and Tier 1s that are part of the consortium, developing zero-emission solutions for the most important automotive materials, covering over 84% of the material mix: steel, three types of aluminum alloys (extrusion, die-casting and metal foams), thermoplastic composites (reinforced with long and continuous fibers), short/unfilled fiber plastics, glass, tires and rare earths (REEs). Within the project, the Department of Industrial Engineering of the University of Bologna plays a double role: development of 'digital twin' models of the extrusion and die-casting process of aluminum alloys.
