The SHIPLEARNING project, led by the NAVTEC Technological District, Tringali Shipyard, and the University of Messina, aims to boost technological competitiveness in shipbuilding. Funded under the PNRR “I-NEST – Interconnected Nord-Est Innovation Ecosystem,” it focuses on advanced reverse engineering for 3D acquisition of complex components and AI-based optimization of the parameters of the Friction Stir Welding (FSW) parameters, a faster and more sustainable alternative to traditional techniques. Activities are hosted at the Tringali shipyard in Augusta, with Prof. Guido Di Bella as scientific lead and Eng. Simone Panfiglio as project coordinator.
