Manufacturing Processes for e-Mobility (eMobility)

Manufacturing Processes for e-Mobility (eMobility)

Manufacturing processes for e-Mobility require new knowledge and innovations from battery cell manufacturing and battery cell-to-module assembly, to manufacturing of rechargeable energy storage systems including fuel cells. Notable research efforts have been conducted to achieve high product quality, reduce production costs, reduce vehicle mass, increase energy densities/capacities and achieve fast charging capabilities.

Special issue information:

This special issue focuses on the fundamental knowledge of processing methods when handling new emerging materials and innovations of novel processing technologies for e-Mobility. Both original research articles and review articles are welcome. See the “Guide for Authors” for requirements of a review article. Topics in e-Mobility include, but are not limited to:

  • Advanced and novel material processing techniques for battery cell manufacturing, cell-to-module assembly, fuel-cell manufacturing, and manufacturing of rechargeable energy storage systems in general
  • Fundamentals of process and post-process optimization for improved manufacturing robustness and reliability
  • Technological innovations to increase e-Mobility production efficiency
  • Advancement of computational tools (physics-based, data-driven machine learned, or hybrid models) to enable the ICME (Integrated Computational Materials Engineering) framework
  • Qualification of e-Mobility technologies and components enabled by high-throughput in-process monitoring/ non-destructive evaluation
